Thanks to everyone! The concert was a great success, the students all played so well and also knew where they were going and were fairly quiet and well behaved. Thanks to all the parents for supporting your students, getting them instruments, and driving them everywhere. I look forward to another great year next year! Be looking at my site for ideas on summer practice, and as always, I highly encourage private lessons. Summer is a great time to enroll, check the tab titled “Private Teachers” for locations and phone numbers of area teachers.

Dear Parent,
I want to thank you for the time and support you have given your advanced orchestra student(s) throughout this year. We had an amazing year and it has been a pleasure to watch the kids grow and develop their musical talents.
To close the season I have planned a field trip to Veyo Pool on May 22nd. I have sent flyers about the field trip home with your kids. In case you have not had the opportunity to see the flyer I have attached a copy to this email. I need 6 or 7 parent volunteers to help with the field trip, but I would be thrilled to have additional volunteers as well. I will need all of the volunteers to arrive at Vista at 3:00 p.m. the day of the field trip, help organize and load the kids, drive the kids to Veyo, stay at Veyo Pool to supervise and help with the activities while we are there, and drive the kids back to Vista to be picked up. Safety is my top concern. Veyo pool does not have lifeguards so it is very important to me that I have adequate help from parent volunteers to insure we have a safe and enjoyable trip. Please let me know if you are able to volunteer and how many kids you would be able to transport.
We will be having a picnic dinner at Veyo Pool. Subway Sandwiches and Ice Cream have been donated. In addition, we would appreciate donations from families for the following picnic items:
50 Dinner Size Paper Plates
50 Paper Bowls
50 Plastic Spoons
50 Paper Cups (or plastic)
50 Napkins
Chips (we need 4 or 5 people to bring a bag each)
2-Litre Bottles of Pop (we need 5 or 6 people to bring a bottle each)
Cookies (we need 4 or 5 people to bring a dozen)
Hot Dogs (for crawdad fishing, we need 2 or 3 people to bring a package)
I have a sign-up sheet for these items in my classroom. Please have your child write their name in the item you are able to provide. If you would like to email me with the item you can donate I will fill in your name, but please specify an alternate item you can provide in case the item you choose has been filled. Please bring your item(s) to my classroom by 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 21st in order to give me time to cover any items donations do not fill.
The day of the field trip, please send your child to school with:
Swimming Suit
Towel
Sunscreen
Comfortable clothes to wear when not in pool
Water shoes (to wade in river)
Money for the snack bar (if desired)
Camera (if desired)
This is not an official school sponsored activity, so permission slips are not needed, but we are pooling our resources to pay the admission fee, so please have your child turn in $3.00 to Mrs. Andrus.
Thank you for supporting Vista’s Advanced Orchestra program. This is going to be a fun activity to celebrate the great successes that we have achieved this year!

Friday the May 11th- dress rehearsal for spring show, involves everyone. 1-3pm. Please pack students lunch.
Tuesday the 15th- Spring concert, 6pm. have student plan on staying after school.
All students are required to attend, this is our curriculum concert, if you are unable to attend the dress rehearsal or the concert for any reason, parents must notify me in writing or the students grade will be negatively effected.
Dress is concert black if you have it, solid blue vista uniform if you don’t.
I need parent volunteers to supervise students in the theater during the concert. The students will be watching the other students perform, so parents who volunteer won’t miss the show. I also need a parent volunteers to supervise students that stay after school on the day of the concert from 3-6. I will have 3 one hour shifts or whatever works for volunteers schedules.
Students that have transportation issues can stay after school on the day of the concert, remember to have students pack their clothes and food that morning.
There will be a silent auction at the concert, you will be able to bid on three baskets with strings supplies that were donated by parents and local music stores. The bidding will be open before the show and during intermission, and the winner will be announced at the end of the show. There will also be dollar raffle for a high quality folding music stand. We’ve got some great string supplies, gift certificates and novelty items up for auction! If you have any items that you want to donate to the baskets, you still have time.

A unique opportunity is available for your string students this Friday as a part of the Annual St. George Bach Festival. Students do not need to prepare ahead of time, but there is opportunity for students that are prepared with a Bach piece (such as in Suzuki Book 1) to perform it. Rehearsals begin at the Community Arts Center by the main library at 4pm this Friday. Below you will find more information, including the General information sheet that tells about all the other concerts-all free-that will be taking place this weekend, the student participation information sheet, and the music to download if you desire. I will award extra credit points to students who participate and present their experience to their class.

The Art Festival was kind enough to assign us the 10 am time slot on Friday, April 6th in case we have families with weekend plans. This is the biggest Art gig in town, and the 2nd biggest venue to take our kids to so that they can perform. (Dicken’s being the biggest.) Orchestra is first on the performance roster.

Congratulations to the Advanced Orchestra for their Superior rating at the Southern Utah Performing Arts Festival today!
The group sounded amazing, and they worked really hard to achieve this success.
I look forward to the concert they will present for the parents on March 7th at 6:30. More information to follow.
No rehearsal this coming week because of SEP’s.
